Our start point is the city of Paraty/RJ where the mountains covered by the Atlantic forest meet the sea, and form the only tropical fjord of the World. The city maintains constructions of the colonial period and was very important for being the end of the “Royal Road”, through which the gold and diamond extracted in Minas Gerais state in the Brazilian Gold Rush came to be envoy by ship to Portugal. We will also meet an handmade sugar cane mill that produces "cachaça" with one water wheel.

     And by boat we will get to know the Joatinga Cape that is famous among the sailors for its natural beauties, deserted beaches, waterfalls and the only world’s tropical Fjord, the Mamanguá Fjord. The expedition begins at Trindade Beach, along the coast to the Mamanguá Fjord and then to Paraty. 

     The lodgings will be in a Inn in the Mamanguá fjord and a Inn of charm at Paraty downtown. 

 

Expedition Itinerary:

 

DAY 01: ARRIVE GRU/PARATY/MAMANGUÁ FJORDE

06:00 am - The tour guide will be waiting for you in the arrival gate in Guarulhos Airport/BRAZIL.

09:00 am – Departure for Paraty/RJ.

01:30 pm – WELCOME LUNCH in the *Quilombo do Campinho.

02:30 pm – Expected Arrival in Paraty Mirim/Mamanguá Fjorde.

*Quilombo: was one settlement built hidden in the forest by the slaves who managed to run away from the sugar cane mills.

DAY 02: MAMANGUÁ FJORDE

08:00 – Breakfast.

09:00 – Free day. Optional: Climb the Sugar Loaf Peak (2.500 ft).

  

DAY 03: MAMANGUÁ FJORDE

08:00 – Breakfast.

09:00 – Hiking to the watherfall.

  

DAY 04: MAMANGUÁ FJORD

08:00 – Breakfast.

09:00 – Start of the boat tour to the Sumaca, Pouso da Cajaíba e Grande beaches.

  

DAY 05: MAMANGUÁ FJORD/PARATY

08:00 – Breakfast.

09:00 – Start of the boat tour to Paraty city, passing through some  deserted beach.

14:00 – Arrival in Porto Imperial Inn in Paraty.

20:00 – Free night.

  

DAY 06: SONO, ANTIGOS e PONTA NEGRA BEACHES

08:00 am – Breakfast.

09:30 am – Departure to the Ponta Negra beach and hiking (2,5 miles)to Saco Bravo waterfall.

10:30 am – Expected arrival in Ponta Negra beach.

18:00 am - Expected arrive in the Porto Imperial Inn.

  

DAY 07: PARATY/RJ.

08:00 – Breakfast.

09:00 – Walking tour and visit to one old sugar cane mill.

20:00 – Free night.

  

DAY 08: PARATY

09:00 – Breakfast and free morning.

DAY 09: PARATY/CUNHA/SÃO PAULO

08:00 am – Breakfast. 

09:00 am – Leaving the hotel to visit the city of Cunha on the top of the Atlantic Rainforest Range.

01:00 pm - lunch.

06:00 pm - Expected arrival in São Paulo and dinner.

DAY 10: SÃO PAULO SIGHTSEEING/GRU AIRPORT

08:00 am - Breakfast.

09:00 am - Sightseeing and visit to São Paulo city museum.

01:00 pm - Farewell lunch.

03:00 pm - Sightseeing and GRU airport.

06:00 pm - Expected drop in GRU airport.
