ITAPETINGA MOUNTAIN RANGE

The Itapetinga Mountain Range is located in the city of Atibaia, only 70 km from São Paulo. Itapetinga means "white stone carpet" in the language of the ancient Indians who inhabited the region. The main attraction of the unit is White Stone itself, a rocky outcropping, 1,418 m high, with a pre-Cambrian age, that is, it appeared more than 600 million years ago. The place is very popular for those who enjoy hang gliding or paragliding.
